Abstract: | Purchasing as an undeniable critical factor in accomplishing company and departmental objectives is described. Industrial buyers continue to be asked to keep prices down while securing more and better services. Operating under the uncertainty created by rapidly changing conditions requires improvements in operational and strategic purchasing. The main elements of the purchasing decision are discussed: the total package offered by the supplier, the price objectives, the supply conditions, the influence of government intervention etc. To buy more for less under such conditions requires attention to the business climate, gives a greater emphasis to the role of the purchasing department. |
