Abstract:This paper focuses on the framing of time and work during a project and on examining how the chosen framing will affect the project team. Progress on a project can be described along a task dimension in terms of amount of work already done or as amount of work still to be done. Project with time limits can also be depicted on a temporal dimension in terms of time spent versus time left. Statements from a team leader about time spent and work left are perceives as requests to hurry up, while alternative statements, such as work done and time left suggest that the team is ahead of the schedule.
