| Abstract: | The article deals with the fluid situation in futures studies. In the first part the development, topics, and projects of futures studies in countries other than the Federal Republic of Germany: the United States, Japan, some West European countries, and a number of developing countries are described. In the second part the focus is on Germany, with a discussion of some of the theses put forward to explain the paralysis of futures studies in that country and an examination of the potential developments that seem to have survived and are growing in some of the more recent approaches to futures studies. |
