Abstract:The development and the main trends of the world market of multimedia products are examined. The main features of the modern multimedia programmes are described and the list of the largest multimedia firms of the world /Time Warner, News Corp., Bertelsmann, Walt Disney etc./ are presented with the main data relating to them, a short description of their activity and their chances and weaknesses. The strategies of multimedia firms applied in the competition for markets are investigated too. It is found that the crucial question concerning the sharp competition in this market is that do European firms have any chance at all against the large American producers or not.
