Abstract:One of the cultural agents shaping the international image of each country is fictional cinema. It can .... influence tourist destination choice. The international diffusion of Spanish films has allowed the exhibition of movies spreading and renewing the image of Spain in different ways. This study sets out a three-fold typology of films focusing the attention on their content and the ways in which they build the image of Spain: Icon Films, Pastiche Films, and Tourist Poster Films. These films may stimulate the increase of a cultural tourism in a very different way from the traditional one, that is, travelling to Spain for sunny beaches.
