Abstract:This paper was aimed to analyse measures adopted to counteract workplace bullying from the perspective of human resource maanegment. It first examined the kind of measures adopted to prevent bullying. Second, it explored factors affecting the extent of such measures. The study found the introduction of written anti-bullying policies and the provision of information to be the most common measures adopted. The role of supervisors and the immediate superior were emphasized by the policies. Furthermore, measures to counteract bullying were positively related to the adoption of 'sophisticated' human reource practices, negative publicity concerning bullying and the presence of a young human resource managers.
