Abstract:This study discusses corporate social responsibility and the advantages that it provides. The authors argue that resource-based perpectives (RBP) are useful to understand why firms engage in CSR activities. CSR is seen as providing internal or external benefits, or both. Internal benefits appear in helping to develop new resources and capabilities which are related to know-how and corporate culture. External benefits are related to its effect on corporate reputation.
