Abstract:Companies can respond better to changing customer demands when their manufacturing organization participates fully in the business plan.To maximize their strategic potential, companies often need to broaden their management focus and information network.Rather than maintain their functional orientation, managers must consider how the corporation operates as a subsystem within the larger business environment. The key to successful implementation is a corporate culture capable of fostering a team environment.Information sharing - two-way communication - is essential. The relationship between the customer and manufacturing operations is discussed. The combination of material resource planning and-just-in-time concepts is suggested.
