Abstract:The quantitative cost-benefit analysis (CBA) and optimality concepts are approaches for economical analysing of climate policy. This article criticizes these approaches. Some fundamental problems associated with CBA and climate policy's effectiviness as an instrument for optimal economic growth are discussed. The role of extreme uncertainty and catastrophes in economic optimatisation models of climate change is also examined.
