Abstract:The introduction of a new scheme requires meticulous corporate planning. The necessity for proper project control may seem obvious, but the fact remains that companies are still capable of perpetrating absolute horrors. The need for employees to be informed and for the plans to demonstrate liberal doses of common sence and a practical awareness of what could go wrong in any new set-ups are shown by the example of a large industrial manufacturing group. The causes that led to the disaster of the introdution of a computer program in a company are analysed from this point of view.
