Abstract: | Productivity in the office work can be increased by applying the analogy of the factory. Just-in-time philosophy is as relevant to office managers as it is to staff on the shop floor, with the same need to determine one's goals and the same constrains on time. An individual's work is compared to a manufacturing process with inputs, performing operations, and transforming them into outputs. Also, the problem of bottlenecks must be handled and tackled accordingly. As motivation theory demonstrates people work better when they believe that their efforts are leading to a tangible result. If the backlog becomes too large, people lose their morale and reduce their efficiency. |
