| Abstract: | The author proceeds from modern theories of economic growth and makes a study of the meaning and features of economic growth point (EGP, a Chinese saying designates a promising sector for economic growth). He also sets roughly the quantitative and qualitative standards for choosing a sector as EGP. Both the basic locations of the new EGPs that China should nurture and the rough locations of EGPs in short, middle and long terms are suggested in the article. In the present phase, the major measures for China to take in nurturing new EGPs are: make a scientific guideline clearly; study and announce new policies; promote the interaction and cooperation with other countries; strengthen the government's organizing work and leadership, etc. |
