| Abstract: | The strategy for Hainan economic development basically includes 2 phases. The second phase, from 1993 to date, is characterized by three sectors (industry, agriculture and tourism) advancing simultaneously. 6 years of practice has shown that it's hard to come up to the objective of making Hainan a booming industrial province. Tropical agricultural, tourism and marine industry are pillar industries in Hainan Special Zone and should be put in a significantly strategic position. Science and education are basic and pioneering industries, which has left behind the average level of the whole nation and become the major obstacle in the implementation of Hainan economic development strategy. |
