Abstract:Just-in-time employees, throwaway execs: America works a new way. It's not all bad, and full-time jobs won't disappear. But managers had better adapt. By some calculations, one out of four of us is now a member of the contingency work force, people hired by companies to cope with unexpected or temporary challenges - part-timers, freelancers, subcontractors and independent professionals.
