Abstract:Some Western experts hail the prospects for a Russian economic miracle - the influx of foreign companies, fledgling stock exchanges, the entrepreneurial spirit of young Russians eager to flex their muscles in newfound market freedoms. That 70,000 enterprises (fewer than 10 percent) are already in private hands and one in three workers is employed in the bustling small business sector may be reasons enough for optimism.
