| Abstract: | Can the IMF prevent the next Mexico? The optimists say yes, if the IMP keeps a better watch on global capital flows. The pessimists say no, and pray that the next time a country like Mexico shocks investors, the world's financial centres will stay calm. Ten months after the crisis in Mexico, which required a 37.8 billion dollar bailout by the US treasury and the IMF, the IMF is working hard to make this kind of outcome a reality. |
