Abstract: | This paper considers the problem of energy technologies of the future. Oil, gas, coal - they are so 20th century. Slowly but surely, Europe is groping toward the energy technologies of the future. Denmark generates 13% of its electricity from wind turbines and is well on its way to meeting its target of 50% by 2030. with the use of wind power growing at an annual rate of 40% worldwide, Vestas, a Danish company that is the world's largest manufacturer of wind turbines, is one of Europe's hottest companies. Its shares have risen almost 80% in the past year. Denmark's windmills are among the more striking signs that Europe is changing the way it thinks about energy. |
