Abstract:By the 1978 the shear quantity of high level marketing science research had exceed the space available in Marketing Department of Management Science and the Journal of Marketing research. The author of the article was asked to chair a committee to look into the feasibility of starting a new marketing journal. In the article the author describes his actions. It considers the following topics: Getting Started; Assembling a Team; Naming the Journal; Designing the Journal; The Manuscripts Arrive; A Tribute to Judi; Marketing Science: A Role model; How Have We Done; Final Thoughts. At the end of the article the author states that it was fun being involved at the birth of the journal.
