Abstract:At present, there's a wide variation in the scope of the drug-testing policies used by U.S. firms. There's only limited systematic examination of testing these programs. This study is trying to give empirical answer. The data collected from 190 human resource management /HRM/ executives indicate that firms with drug-testing policies differ from the non-drug-testing organizations. Firms with effective drug-testing policies engage in drug-testing for targeted groups of employees, and focus on the rehabilitation of those who test positive.
