Abstract:South Korea's "western development plan" involves 72 construction projects, large and small, including establishing communication and transportation facilities, industrial zones, transforming agricultural zones and perfecting cultural recreational facilities. The implementation of this plan will lead to the further increase of South Korea's demand for energy and raw materials to be imported from China. As it practices the export-led economic development strategy, it will depend more on the Chinese market. Moreover, the possibility of transferring the "sunset industries" to China will become greater gradually.
