Abstract: | Sino-Korean trade began in 1979 via Hong Kong, and chalked up US$9.1 billion in 1993, 42 percent up from 1992; US$11.6 billion in 1994, 28 percent up from 1993; US$1.65 billion in 1995, 42 percent up from 1994. China's economy will maintain a growth rate of 7-8 percent between 1996 and 1998. If South Korea keeps increasing investment in China and improving industrial cooperation with China, Sino-Korean trade will continue to grow at a rate of 20-30 percent each year. As a result, trade with China will make up 12 percent of the total of Korean trade. As a trend of development, Korea will maintain a balanced expansion of trade with China, make further efforts to create new leading varieties of exporting goods. It is expected that Korean investment in China will shift to large-scale technology-intensive industrial programs. |
