Abstract: | In 1995, the volume of cross-straits transit trade via Hong Kong reached US$ 11.457 billion, accounting for 5.3% of Taiwan's foreign trade volume. The mainland as one of Taiwan's trade partners leapt to 4th position. In the cross-straits trade, the mainland mainly exports labor and resource-intensive goods to Taiwan while Taiwan exports technology and capital-intensive ones to the mainland. Investment has played a strong promoting role in cross-straits trade. But at the same time, there exist the problem of twist of trade forms, determined by comparative advantages. This mainly results from the intervention of the Taiwan authorities. |
