Abstract:For the recent collapse of the nation´s seventh largest corporation Enron exists a variety of explanations. This article examines communication-based leader responsibility principles to explain Enron´s demise. These briefs include communicating appropriate values, maintaining adequate communication and maintaining openess to signs of problems. To illustrate the failures in responsibility, a variety of media reports and participant accounts are used. Also from the analysis many implications for managerial communication are drawn.
