Abstract:The article criticizes the argument in the book of Robert Reich (Supercapitalism: The transformation of business, democracy and everyday life), the former U.S. Secretary of Labor, that corporate social responsibility is a waste of effort and resources. According to this article, corporate social responsibility is a valuable social asset that promotes transparency, accountability, integrity, better communication, mutually beneficial exchange and sensible development in companies. Especially the more and more global economics increase the need for this important vehicle of business ethics and modern capitalism. The author argues that books like Supercapitalism are dangerous for the fragile construct of corporate social responsibility.
