Abstract:Eco-efficiency (here as: e/e) is defined as a general goal of creating value while decreasing environmental (as: env-al.) impact (as: env-imp). The empirical part refers to a ratio btw. env-imp. and economic cost or value. In defining practical e/e, two basic choices have to be made: which variables are in the a. denominator and b. numerator, and whether to specify env-imp. or improvement (as: imprmt.) and value created or cost. ... Four basic e/e types result: env-al. intensity and env-al. productivity in the value creation, and env-al. imprmt. cost and env-al. cost-effectiveness in the env-al. imprmt. measures.
