Abstract: | This study aims to ensure the current status of, and barriers to, knowledge and information sharing (henceforth as: KIS), to suggest improvements, and to determine whether the situation is different from experienced by organizations (here as: org./orgs.) operating in an average business environment (here as: abe). Based on a survey conducted within the New Zealand Defence Force, it is found a lot of similarity existing btw. the two types of orgs. except that the org. operating in a closed information environment (here as: cie.) presents as an extreme example of an average org. Especially, the requirement to maintain high security yet encourage the free KIS presents a considerable challenge. It is shown how cie. orgs. could provide insights and examples for those operating in the abe. With consequences being more critical, practice will become more exact. |
