Abstract: | Travel and hospitality industries are strongly influenced by changes in household demand for vacations. To understand the impact of rising income and declining prices per unit of quality, a theoretical model is developed to separate travel expenditures from on-site expenditures. Based on Israeli data, it is found that under certain circumstances, a shift toward multiple, short vacations is due to the changes in income and prices. This trend can be a benefit to the travel industry but a disadvantage for the hospitality industry etc. |
