| Abstract: | This study traces the evolution of the intellectual structure (here as: i-str.) of the strategic management (as: str-mgmt.) field from 1980 to 2000. Using a variety of data analytic techniques such as multidimensional scaling, factor analysis etc., this study 1. delineates the subfields constituting the i-str. of str-mgmt., 2. determines the relationships btw. the subfields, 3. identifies authors playing a pivotal role in bridging two or more conceptual domains of research, and 4. graphically maps the i-str. in 2-dimensional space to visualize spatial distances btw. intellectual themes. This analysis provides insights about the influence of individual authors and the changes in their influence over time, as well. |
