| Abstract: | The relationship between executive individual characteristics, strategic decisions, and resulting outcomes is a long-term issue in strategy research. This paper refocuses upper echelons theory on executives' psychological processes represented by their self-regulation (promotion vs. prevention). Using a set of propositions, executives' self-regulation is herein connected with strategic processes and outcomes. The benefit of incorporating promotion and prevention modes of regulation in research focusing on executives is discussed. |
