Abstract:In this paper, the tensions faced by healthcare organisations (henceforth as: orgs.) are explored by using the virtue approach to ethics of Alasdair MacIntyre. By providing moral evaluation of the stories told in orgs., an ethical analysis brings about action. Yet, it is the analysis of stories in orgs. studies offering the tools for taking action. The analysis presented herein provides an example of how ethics and orgs. studies can be brought together for a stronger analysis of organizational (herein as: org-al.) phenomena. Indeed, there is support provided for Nielsen's position of org-al. theory and ethics being co-dependent etc.
