Abstract:European retail investors love to buy the bonds of an elite group of household-name companies. But for lesser-known corporate borrowers, considering a Eurobond issue is usually a waste of time. It will remain so unless the Euromarket can entice more institutional fund managers to buy corporate paper. Corporate borrowers have long found the Eurobond tricky. For years most companies - even European ones - have been able to raise funds more cheaply in the US.
