| Abstract: | Automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS) are among the most widely used material handling tools in modern warehouses and distribution centers. The primary objective of an ASRS is to make stored materials available at the point of use in picking, production, and shipping areas by accurate tracking and prompt delivery of the work part. The purposes of this paper are to demonstrate the feasibility of using stochastic Petri nets to model an ASRS, and to evaluate and investigate the performances of different control algorithms for the ASRS. |
