| Abstract: | There are many approaches to learning in general. There is the traditional taught course: a lecturer tells people what they ought to know, in a "chalk and talk" and highly prescriptive fashion. But there are other methods of learning and development which are perhaps more suited to management: these include "Action Learning" and "Self-Managed Learning", the latter is the subject of this article. SML is becoming widely adopted in organisations and educational establishments in the UK and there is a growing literature on the subject. |
