Abstract:A phenomenal growth in the rural credit delivery system and also in priority sector lending at concessional interest rates implies that rural lending involves a large number of small advances to borrowers in scattered villages. This calls for more personnel, more mobility and training for loan supervisors in rural banking. However, organizational weaknesses such as inadequacy of staff, lack of technical knowledge and so on have become a common feature in most of the banks and led to the poor state of credit delivery system.
