Abstract:This study employs a computable general equilibrium model of the Papua New Guinea economy to analyse the macroeconomic impacts of the Government's medium term strategy for sustainable growth. A range of policy measures are simulated including new taxation reforms, increased government spending and a consumption tax. The results suggest that the new taxation reforms are unlikely to have appreciable impacts on the economy. Increased government spending has the potential to impact adversely on some export sectors.
