| Abstract: | The issues discussed in this paper are grouped into three areas: mergers and acquisitions, financial aspects of corporate control and privatization, which itself covers going private buy-outs and transfers from the public to the private sector. The paper suggests that the impact of changes in ownership are debatable and may be linked to the form of ownership change. There is a need for further analysis of the factors which influence changes in performance after a transfer of ownership with a particular need to consider the links between different types of takeover, the impact of incumbent management and of different types of internal corporate governance system. |
