Abstract:This paper uses Colligwood's methodology to attempt to understand those formative influences influencing Drucker within the Weimar Republic. It is intent on using this methodology to advance an historical thesis about both origins and sources of Drucker's thought. The author argues that it was those formative influences which underlie and inform Drucker's world view and general philosophy of management. The author proceeds the historical thesis about the sources of Drucker's thoughts, about those origins and presuppositions which must have influenced Drucker's eventual development of his theory of management. The author is interested in presenting a philosophical argument about the problems in Drucker's managerial pedagogue which stem directly from these formative influences.
