| Abstract: | This article examines the interaction between job tenure and external labor market conditions in the determination of wages. The authors present a model which contains both job matching and business-cycle effects. The authors find that the employee gradually becomes shielded from the cyclical variations in external labor market conditions due to human capital accumulation. |
