Abstract:This study represents an initial investigation into role morality in accounting. If an accountant is in a situation resulting in role morality, there may occur significant harm to others. The study includes survey data from accountants, attorneys, and physicians. Results suggest that accountants generally disagree that role morality is acceptable. Attorneys agree the most with role morality, whereas physicians agree the least.
