Abstract:The role of destination image in tourist behavior has not been much explored. The purpose of the paper is to study how destination image affects tourists' future behavioral intentions. The constructs of destination image, satisfaction and behavioral intentions of visitors to Mauritius are examined using a sample of 705 international tourists and structural equation modeling. The findings indicate that destination image influences behavioral intentions both directly and indirectly. In addition, satisfaction is found to act as a mediator between destination image and future behavioral intentions.
