Abstract: | Research results show that telecommunications products exhibit a number of different diffusion patterns. Based on a relatively small number of examples it can now be suggested that consumer telecommunications products are likely to follow a Plateau-type diffusion pattern, whereas successful niche business products will have a Rapid Penetration curve and telecommunications products requiring extensive infrastructure to be in place are more likely to follow a Late Rush curve. The number of factors that have been identified as likely to have a significant impact on the diffusion of new telecommunications products is high and includes: consumer versus industrial markets, niche versus mass markets, and a mixed collection of other variables. |
