| Abstract: | This paper introduces the realist concept of science to defend and advance the critique of positivist organization theory in the Donaldson's counter-critique, and to rescue Foucault from the obscurity of postmodernist interpretations, thereby establishing his significance as a guide to organizational ethnography. The relationship between "organization" and "society" is that between the empirical and the non-empirical; they are sides (front and back) of the same social relations; vertically, not horizontally connected. |
