Abstract:The interrelationship of class-based ideology and religious beliefs is discussed. The following points are examined in the paper - social class, militancy, religion and the state, class and militancy, submissive religions, justice and love. The author develops an ideal-type approach in which class values are expressed as theological conceptions. The analysis in the article is limited to Christian religions with specific reference to the United States. The paper proposes to differentiate between two types of both militant and submissive religions each reflecting a particular class.
