Abstract:The phenomenon of growth of high technology industry is discussed. Different models of start-up and growth of small high technology enterprises as they appear in the United Kingdom and the United States experience are proposed. The several possibilities of early financing and of second and later round of financing are considered. The latter often coincides with the growth and maturation period of the young high technology firm, when marketing and management skills as well as an organizational structure become necessary. The issues met by small high technology firms step by step are discussed, and a variety of problems are underlined and eventual solutions for these kinds of ventures are pointed at.
