Abstract: | Wells Fargo plans to convert the majority of its California branch network into supermarket facilities by the end of the year and is inviting a drugstore chain to set up pharmacies in its existing bank branches. The bank's radical approach to branching, along with its innovations in on-line banking and electronic commerce reflect the new frontiers in retail banking and the shift away from the traditional concepts surrounding most bank operations. For Wells Fargo, putting branches in supermarkets brings its services closer to its customers at times and locations where they are wanted. |
