Abstract: | The smallest of the post-communist countries, Estonia, stands out for post-transition achievement. Restructuring an economy that had long been geared to the needs of the former Soviet Union has not been easy, and there are still problems in agriculture. But Estonians began the transition early and have pressed on with it remorselessly. They have been determined to re-integrate with the Nordic countries and with the rest of Europe. Now the reward is measured in a high rate of economic recovery and the highest foreing investment inflow ahead of population of any part of the former USSR. |
