| Abstract: | European savings banks are backing small and medium-sized enterprises and looking to capitalize on the savings potential of eastern Europe. In June this year the new thrust of the European savings banks was underlined at a get-together in Brussels. The occasion was a meeting of the great and good from international organisations addressing the problems of sorting out the financial systems of the "transition economies" of the former communist countries of central and eastern Europe. |
