| Abstract: | The latest review of progress that EU countries have made on the convergence criteria show that the 15 still have some way to go. Financial markets are wisely working on the assumption that European economic and monetary union will go ahead in some form or another in just over two years' time. The head of political steam which has built up in support of EMU has ensured that this month's European Union summit in Dublin will see progress towards the single currency and the introduction of the euro as the main topic for debate. |
