Abstract:The scandinavian banking system is going through a period of consolidation after the crises of the early 1990s. The consolidation has centred on Sweden. The mergers are shaping the future of the nordic market. Now it seems to be that most of the merger activity is probably over, although some analysists believe there will be a second wave featuring more cross-border activity. Most likely move is a revival of merger talks between SE Banken and Nordbanken.
