Abstract:Latin American bank performance shows broad improvement over the past 12 months as asset quality recovers, loan activity accelerates, and consolidation and privatisation gather momentum throughout the region. But if resurgent economic activity in several key markets has lifted bank results on a rising tide of credit demand and deposits, future success in Latin American banking will be reserved for those institutions that achieve strong capitalisation, rigorous risk assessment, aggressive product diversification and innovative service enhancements.
